Season 2020 - Winter
The PD40 had a great winter 2019-2020 season. Continuing from the team’s summer success as both league and Cup champions, the team would go on to replicate as Winter league and Cup champions as well!
The team dominated the winter season from start to finish having wrapped up the title with 4 games remaining. Finishing with a record of 11 wins and 1 loss; 41 goals for and 9 goals against for a +32 goal differential.
This year the attack was spearheaded by veterans Anthony Mak (9), Howard Chang (7), Lo Chan (7). Last year’s top scorer, Sami M.H. Le, had a shortened season due to wrist surgery but still managed to chip in 5 goals.
New signing, Rick Wu, showed positive creativity and set up many great assists (7) for his teammates and he also managed to score a few goals (4).
The midfield was anchored by Daniel Chun Chan who regularly led by example and was partnered by the rejuvenated Lo Chan. Phillip Leung and Felis Fong both had productive seasons with 4 goals a piece. Sergei Volpov, Danny Feng and Leo also made important contributions throughout the season from midfield.
The backline is the engine that runs this machine. Led by Roger Wong who controlled the play with his experience and physicality. His central defensive partner, Allan Law, compliments the pairing with a calm and strategic demeanor. New signing, Henry Lau, flanked on the left side with his pace and attack-minded runs into the opposition’s final third which led to numerous scoring opportunities. Danny Fong was a mainstay on the right side. Our defence in combination with our goalies, Andy Chan and Ricky Lam, gave up a mere 9 goals against.
The team will be looking forward to more success on the pitch next season while also enjoying each other’s camaraderie and banter off the pitch.
A big thank you to the people behind the scenes whose dedication made this all possible including coach Gabriel, Uncle Johnny and Carlo.
